Hello from SkateKamp!

Hey! Jake Einsiedl here, Bay Area skateboarder of 15+ years and founder of SkateKamp. Thanks so much for taking interest in us! It brings us such joy to share our story and mission with you.

SkateKamp was born out of a desire to spread the love of skateboarding. We lead summer camps in 3 Bay Area cities (San Mateo, Santa Clara, Milpitas), teach lessons, and bring a collective 20+ years of instructor experience.

At SkateKamp, we equally value teaching campers to skate as we do welcoming them into skateboarding’s fun, supportive, and inclusive community. We want all campers to continue to feel welcome, motivated, and capable of skating even after the end of our time together at camp.

We hope to skate together soon!

With sunshine, SkateKamp

Mission

SkateKamp empowers youth through skateboarding summer camps and lessons. We help children see skateboarding as a community and sport that embraces their unique differences and promotes self-empowerment through creativity and overcoming obstacles (such as learning new tricks!)

We’re passionate about teaching skateboarding so that it may positively impact the lives of campers in the way that it has the entire SkateKamp team. We believe our camps can contribute to the vitality, health, and wellness of our communities by bringing kids together through a fun activity that promotes physical exercise and community engagement.

Approach to Camp

From teaching skatepark etiquette and safety best-practices to walking campers through their first drop-ins and ollies, our instructors teach across various skill levels, age groups, and learning environments. SkateKamp’s practice is rooted in promoting engagement with skateboarding as a sport, community, and artistic practice by:

Establishing a safe, fun, and trusting relationship with campers.

Assessing campers’ skill levels and determining next-step skills.

Nurturing a healthy relationship with skateboarding through positive instruction and fun group activities (skate grip art, assembly races, etc.).

We place equal value on campers learning new skills as we do ensuring they feel safe, welcome, and included at the skatepark so they can develop a long-lasting relationship with skateboarding, even after our time together at camp!
